Redesign of extension April 24, 2006

As you can see, my site has been overhauled. When I upgraded to Wordpress 2.0 a few months ago, I was also itching to do a redesign of the theme, but never really got around to it. Now that I’ve got a job that actually requires me to be a regular surfer, I figured that a snazzy website was a high enough priority to actually get something done.

It’s also finals week, and I’m trying to do whatever I can to avoid studying.

So the site is fairly simple, and a big thanks goes out to Binary Moon for designing this beautiful theme. Also thanks to zaccrain and Morgue File for the excellent header graphic. Thanks to Christine Davis for her amazing plugin Ultimate Tag Warrior which has allowed me the neat little tag cloud on the right. And finally, thanks to all the wonderful people at Wordpress for making such a powerful weblogging system so simple to use.

Eventually I want to add some AJAX capability to this site, giving users the opportunity to choose to view content from a variety of feeds and/or tagcrawlers (del.icio.us,News Vine,digg.com,Furl, etc.).

I also want to have a more clearly defined rating system, probably a three-star rating that allows readers a simple click to indicate whether or not they are interested.

In addition, I’ve always been a fan of a good ticker. Too much is a bad thing, but they can certainly be tastefully done. The BBC had a nice ticker, but it’s currently being revamped. Maybe I can throw up regular gaming headlines with some of my own thrown in.

This is a good start, though, and I’m looking forward to writing a lot more this summer. Stay tuned.

I’m liking the redesign, Jenkins.
