About me
I am Matthew Jenkins, a graduate from the Masters of Digital Media in Vancouver, BC.
I am a founder of the development studio, Big Hadron games, where we do art and indie games when we’re not contracting out our video game development services. I have worked at Electronic Arts on Skate 2 as an Assistant Producer.
I received my BA in 2007 from Trinity Western University. My major was Humanities, a crossbreed between English and Philosophy. During the 04/05 school year I was the editor of TWU’s student newspaper, Mars’ Hill. It was an exciting experience, and I intend to use my editing experience, as well as my graduate studies, to leverage a career in a new sort of media that uses everything from traditional journalism to online games and virtual worlds to communicate.
My interest in media has already begun to converge with my interest in video game theory, often called ludology (ludos means “play” in Latin). I expect this trend will continue, and within the decade I hope to be playing a major role in a publishing company that spans the digital divide and works with media outlets throughout many sectors, including printing, podcasting, and gaming.
Ultimately, I intend to create a massive multiplayer world called Allendria. This world will be the garden for a number of ideas that have been germinating in my head for far too long. Hopefully, it will prove to be fertile soil, both for me and anyone else who wishes to plant an idea and watch it grow.
